Offshore Spars is dedicated to using the latest manufacturing technology. Using new technology allows us to supply our customers with the highest quality product. Below is a list of some the machines that Offshore Spars has recently installed.
Cutting Table (USA): This machine is used for cutting uncured composite fabrics, a process that was once done with scissors. The table measures 20’x5’ and uses a suction to hold the material down while the blade cuts. Due to the ability to precision cut and limit waste, this machine is used to cut nearly every composite part made at Offshore Spars.
Water Jet Cutter (USA): With a cutting surface of 4’x 4’ this machine allows us to cut a wide variety of parts. The machine is capable of cutting metals up 6” thick and is also equipped with a drill head which allows for cutting of composite materials without delaminating.
Water Jet Cutter (Finland): Very similar to the US machine, the Water Jet cutting machine located in Finland measures 1.5m x 2.0m. Having similar water jet machines on two continents gives assurance that the products made at each location are of the same precision quality.
Mandrel Extractors (US and Finland): The unique task of removing a long aluminum mandrel from a cured carbon tube requires a specially designed machine. Engineered and built at Offshore Spars, this one of a kind machine is found in both the US and Finland factories. Hydraulically powered and capable of pulling with 125 tons of force this machine efficiently removes the mandrel without damaging it or the carbon tube.
